Umbrella
What a concept. What a shape! I love to think that the form of the umbrella has not deviated too far from the early original. Better yet, though the umbrella can be a little unwieldy on blustery days, there has been no invention to supersede this sculptural contraption. A gloomy cloud rolls overhead and we persevere with the humble umbrella, partaking in an odd kind of windswept dance that makes you wonder who’s in control – the umbrella, or the person? Leaving the rainy-day variety aside, the sunny-day umbrella is a favourite of mind. Beach umbrellas are a signpost for lazy days, long lunches, oceans swims and sand between your toes. The umbrella shown above was captured in Café Des Épices in Marrakech Morocco, so you can throw in the spice aromas of the souk, too. These are all things I want to bring home with me, which is why I added a Rattan Umbrella to my products section. It’s perfect to drink in the sun without the burn, and brings all those holiday remnants with it.
