THE ALPHABET OF MATERIALS: M IS FOR…
Marble
The luxury associated with marble is as ancient as this material. A wander through the streets of Rome and you’ll spot this material here, there & everywhere in all different tones and natural variations. Its stone-cold good looks immediately translate into a sense of grandeur, which can also bring a hefty price tag. When I created Henry Deane in Hotel Palisades I looked to a take on marble for that sense of opulence, but in a slightly out-of-the-box application. After discovering incredible hand-printed marble wallpaper, I was thrilled. It still imbues that same sense of luxury and attention to detail, while in an unexpected way. I still love the traditional material, but I do love a tongue-in-cheek homage to the original, too…
