It is the scent of spice blends, cardamom and coffee contained in burlap and canvas sacks piled up in front of stalls lining the souk walls of magnificent alternating grey and white courses of limestone and basalt.

It is the memory of entanglements of sea creatures, turtle shells, small crocs, shark, starfish, antlers & horns, porcupine quills, strung pods, bark and spices suspended over the stalls in the Seed Souk; the jangle of amulets & talismans for sale.

It is the sillage of treading the ancient trades routes of mud streets, stepping through wide archways and relaxing in secluded courtyards, with the sound dice hitting wooden backgammon boards.
