The design & fit-out of the new space brings together a beautiful array of mixed materials, skilled makers & local tradespeople, communicating the brand’s philosophy through furniture, fixtures & art.

Warm timber tones are offset by a smooth custom concrete countertop by slab shapers, bespoke copper tapware by Tarnish Copper,  patterned encaustic tiles by Jatana Tiles & hand-painted murals by Matt Ireland. The space which highlights hand crafted elements & beautiful details is the perfect backdrop for the masterfully crafted surfboards which it houses.

This local hang-out is very conducive to lingering for a coffee where you will undoubtedly bump into a friend or two.

The brand which was founded in 1962 by Bob McTavish carries with it a sense of timelessness & walking through their new showroom, feels as relevant today as it has for the last half a century.  Bob’s lovable larrikin personality is evident within the character of the space. His contributions to surf design and culture form the basis of what McTavish is all about – design excellence, excitement, fun and adventure.

In keeping with the brand’s long association with the social side of surf culture, after hours the car park is often converted to a party venue, where the team rolls out the movie projector, opens up the factory to the public, play some tunes and have a chat, usually over cold beer from the neighbours – Stone & Wood.

It is evident the project has come together as a huge collaborative effort from the entire McTavish team, & it’s needless to say they should all be very proud to call it home.
